AP Student Commits Suicide In Hostel Room At NIT-Calicut

Kozhikode (Kerala): The body of a 17-year-old engineering student, who had recently joined the National Institute of Technology-Calicut, was on Saturday found hanging from a window bar in his hostel room here.

The boy, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, had joined the NIT-C at Kunnamangalam in the district on July 26. He was last seen around 4.00 pm on Friday in his hostel room, police said. When a student who shared space with the deceased came to their room at 8.00 am on Saturday, he found it locked from inside, they said. He came back with other students later and still found it locked. When they peeped through the window, they saw the body hanging from the window bar inside the room.

Police rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident by the hostel warden. A case of unnatural death has been registered, they said. The body has been sent to the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode for postmortem, police added.
