AP govt. to spend Rs 25,000 crore for weaker sections

Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu on Friday said the State Government is spending Rs 25,000 crore for the welfare and development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.

The TDP-led Government is taking several steps for the uplift of ST/SC and BCs. It has earmakred a sum of Rs 25,000 crore towards their welfare and development over the next few years, he said.

He was speaking at 'Chandranna loan mela' distribution programme at Peddapuram, where Home Minister N Chinnarajappa and Social Welfare Minister R Kishore Babu were also present. Panchayat Raj Minister C Ayyannapatrudu said Rs 700 crore has been sanctioned under SC/ST sub-plan and this amount will be utilised for laying roads and drains in SC/ST colonies.
