AP Government Postpones Group-2 Examinations

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced the postponement of Group-2 examinations.

The examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission were scheduled to be held on May 20 and 21. They will now be held on July 15 and 16. The examinations were postponed following an outcry by the student community that there was only a 45-day interval between the Prelims and Mains examination, the decision to re-schedule was taken. Also, opposition leader in the state assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had written to the government suggesting postponement of the examination. He said, in view of the student protest it is necessary to re-schedule the exams.

49,000 candidates who have qualified in the Group-2 Prelims are appearing for the Mains. The exams are being held to fill 985 vacancies in various government departments.

Interestingly, the APPSC had conducted an online poll on its website regarding the conduct of the Group-2 examinations. The poll results were overwhelming in favour of postponement. The Commission also re-scheduled Group-3 Mains to July 30 from July 17.
