Andhra employees heaved a sigh of relief on finding that the Government of Andhra Pradesh had adequate resources to pay the salaries. This was one of the biggest dilemmas facing the nascent state.

According to the present statistics there is no problem for the income for Andhra Pradesh government. The official sources are saying that the income from state taxes, share in central taxes is satisfying.

“The position is not as pathetic as envisaged earlier and the state has got considerable amount of income in July,” said a top official in the state government.

The state got an income of Rs.5,480 crores from in July. Even though the officials had estimated only 45 per cent of VAT income for the state, it rose to 47 percent.

The income from new liquor license policy was also increased in July. The income from motor vehicles tax and stamps and registrations was also fine.

The undivided Andhra Pradesh used to get an amount of Rs.1,960 crores in the form of central taxes. After the bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh got an amount of Rs.1,200 crores in July.
