AP Assembly to Ratify GST Bill in Assembly Session on Sept 8

Amalapuram: Andhra Pradesh government has decided to call for an Assembly session from September 8 to approve GST Bill. Though it had initially decided to hold the Assembly session in Amaravati, AP government has now favored to have the session in Hyderabad.

Earlier, we thought of holding Assembly session in Amaravati. But, since the Centre asked us to send the approved Assembly resolution on GST Bill by September, we have decided to hold it in Hyderabad. After BAC, we’ll announce the topics to be taken up for discussion in Assembly.

AP Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu along with Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa has announced that Assembly session would begin on September 8 in Hyderabad.

Yanamala said AP government would get the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax (GST) passed in this session, which is likely to last for four or five days.

Yanamala said: “Earlier, we thought of holding Assembly session in Amaravati. But, since the Centre asked us to send the approved Assembly resolution on GST Bill by September, we have decided to hold it in Hyderabad. After BAC, we’ll announce the topics to be taken up for discussion in Assembly.”

Finance ministers from all states will discuss the issue of GST compensation at a high-power meeting on September 30. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely is the chairman of the high-power committee.
