AP agriculture minister faces farmers' ire
AP agriculture minister Prattipati Pulla Rao may have led several farmers' agitations as an opposition leader.
But, on Sunday he found himself at the wrong end of the stick. It was the farmers who vented their ire on him saying he had failed to solve the problems of Bengal gram farmers.
Hundreds of farmers from Prakasam district laid a siege to the Prattipati Pullarao's residence and squated there to express their anger at the government's failure to provide them succour.
The farmers have met AP CM Chandrababu last month and explained their problem to him, but to no avail. Not satisfied with the minister's assurances, the farmers staged a dharna on the national highway. They called off their dharna only when the police intervened and pacified them. They threatened intensify their agitations if the government remained blind to their problems.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the state government will face the similar protests if no action is taken on the loan waiver.
