Another Social Media Activist Arrested Without Questioning
Bengaluru: The Andhra Pradesh police continued to crack whip against the social media activists. In a fresh incident, the Amaravati police picked up social media activist Ravindra for allegedly posting caricatures of TDP leaders on the social media.
Initially, the police called Ravindra to Ramamurthy Nagar police station to serve notice on him. When Ravindra reached the police station, he was immediately taken into custody without questioning.
Condemning the arrest of Ravindra, the YSR Congress party said that the AP Government was highly undemocratic and despotic in its action. It said the Government was trying to suppress freedom of speech on the social media.
In a statement, YSRCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy said that the party would fight a legal battle against the AP government. He said the party would make every effort to help Ravindra.
