Send AP’s 5,000 Fishermen By Sea Route; YS Jagan Urges Vijay Rupani

AP CM YS Jagan Seeks Gujarat CM Help In Getting Back AP Fishermen - Sakshi Post

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, for the second time in three days. He sought his Gujarat counterpart’s help in bringing back by sea the state’s fishermen stranded in Gujarat. About 5,000 fishermen from Andhra Pradesh are left stranded off the coast of the northwestern state of Gujarat due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on April 21, spoke to Vijay Rupani and urged him to ensure all possible assistance to the AP fishermen in strife in Gujarat. The Gujarat CM acknowledged YS Jagan’s request and had agreed to send the fishermen back. He promised that their government would provide food and accommodation to the AP’s fishermen besides helping them out with essential commodities during this time of crisis. The AP CM immediately instructed officials to take all necessary action for the immediate evacuation of the fishermen from Gujarat.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana said that the State government would bring the fishermen back to state by sea route in special boats.
