140 of AP’s 161 Coronavirus Cases Have Links To Delhi Markaz

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a high-level review meeting here on Friday as part of his efforts to constantly monitor enforcement of lockdown and preventive measures that are being implemented across the state. The chief minister also reviewed the preventive initiatives being taken up by the village volunteers, NHM and Asha workers in the state.

Speaking to the media after the review meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Aalla Nani, who also holds the Health portfolio, said that the state had recorded 161 coronavirus positive cases so far. Of these, 140 are of returnees from the Delhi Markaz Nizamuddin Event, he added.

The Health Minister said that till now, a total of 946 people came back to Andhra Pradesh from Delhi. Out of them, 108 have tested positive.

Besides, 613 people who had come in contact with the Delhi returnees were also tested. Out of the 613, 32 have tested positive for the virus.

Speaking about the testing laboratories in the state, the deputy CM said that testing labs would be set up in Kadapa and Guntur. He also added that will be operational from Monday, testing of the cases would be done at seven labs in the state.

He said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given directions to the authorities to use private labs, if the need arises.

Asserting that social distancing would be followed at Rythu Bazaars and supermarkets, Nani said that all those being sheltered would be provided with the necessary food and basic amenities.

He also informed that the chief minister had given instructions to ensure that farm produce in the state gets the minimum support price. Rs 1,000 will be distributed to the poor families as well, he said.

Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Mopidevi Venkataramana,  DGP Gautham Sawang, Medical and Health Department Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy and other officials attended the review meeting chaired by YS Jagan.
