AP Gov Enhances Subsidy For Christian & Muslim Pilgrims
TADEPALLI: Andhra Pradesh state government has taken the decision to enhance the financial assistance to Christian and Muslim pilgrims undertaking pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Haj respectively .
Minority Welfare Department Principal Secretary Mohd Ilyas Rizvi has issued GO over the enhanced financial assistance in GO MS 74 on Tuesday, November 19.
The state has allocated an additional amount of Rs 14.22 crore for the hike in the subsidy amount for the pilgrimages.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government enhanced the financial aid from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 for the pilgrims if their annual income is upto Rs.3.00 lakhs. The amount has increased from Rs.20,000 to Rs.30,000 if the annual income of the pilgrims is above Rs 3 lakh.
The government also issued orders, hiking the subsidy amount for Muslims visiting the holy places in Saudi Arabia for annual Haj pilgrimage.
