TDP Youth Leader Devineni Avinash Joins YSR Congress Party
VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu and the party received a major setback after TDP youth leader Devineni Avinash resigned from the post of Telugu Youth Presidency Membership and joined the ruling YSR Congress Party in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Thursday. TDP Senior Leader Kadiyala Buchi Babu also joined YSRCP. The Chief Minister invited both of them into the party.
He is said to have sent his resignation letter to the TDP state office. Along with him, a senior leader from Krishna district Kadiyala Buchibabu also resigned from the TDP. Devineni Avinash is the son of TDP leader and former minister late Devineni Nehru who passed away in 2017.
Speculations were rife for some days that Avinash would resign from the Party as he was unhappy with the treatment meted out by Chandrababu and Lokesh. It was also said that he was not given proper representation in the party after he lost to Minister for Civil Supplies and YSRCP leader Kodali Nani in the recent elections in Gudivada.
The TDP cadre is facing a crisis with senior and youth leaders leaving the TDP in dozens. Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi resigned from the TDP membership last month , while former minister and senior leader from Kadapa district Adinarayana Reddy also resigned from the TDP and recently joined the BJP. BJP MLC Somu Veerraju on Wednesday made a sensational statement that many TDP MLAs were in talks with the BJP and might join their party and there is every possibility of the TDP losing its existence.
