YS Jagan Condoles Death Of Former Bureaucrat PS Krishnan
AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the demise of former IAS officer P S Krishnan and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
Krishnan died on Sunday morning in a New Delhi hospital.
The CM said that he had dedicated his life for the upliftment of the downtrodden and he will be remembered for championing the cause of the marginalised sections of society.
PS Krishnan was a 1956 beatch IAS officer and is widely known for his expertise in the field of social justice. He was the Secretary, Ministry of Welfare in 1990 when VP Singh government implemented the Mandal Commission Report which sought to provide 27% reservations to socially and educationally backward classes.
The former bureaucrat was also the first member - Secretary of National Commission for Backward Classes.
The officer from Tamil Nadu retired as the Secretary of the Ministry of Welfare, which was later renamed as Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in 1998.
