Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his grief over the death of veteran Telugu actress, Geetanjali Ramakrishna, who passed away this morning on Thursday.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said that the veteran actress had left an indelible mark in the Telugu film industry. She also proved her mettle in films across other languages, he said . He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members of the actress.

Actress Geetanjali passed away in the wee hours of Thursday, October 31, after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was taken for treatment at a private hospital near Film Nagar in Hyderabad where she breathed her last.

She was first introduced to the industry by the late NT Rama Rao in the movie Seetarama Kalyanam in the year 1961.

Geetanjali originally named Mani hailed from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. In her almost six decades-long careers, Geetanjali had worked in over 500 movies in the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi film industry.

She married her fellow actor Ramakrishna after acting with him in a few films.Her last movie in Telugu was Tamannaah Bhatia’s That is Mahalakshmi.

The last rites of the actress will be performing in the evening, as per the sources.
