Vizianagaram Timber Bazaar Gutted In Flames
Vizianagaram: Large quantities of timber had been brought to ashes as the Kolla Bazaar area faced a massive fire that engulfed the timber marketplace and gutted it down to its knees in Vizianagaram on Wednesday.
Kolla Bazaar is a street well known for its sale of timber wood and wooden finished products like furniture and other materials. Wooden sticks used for supporting construction sites also available on a rental bases.
With no evidence of the cause of the fire, the locals ran into eight shops that were high up in flames. No one was aware of the start of the fire as it took place at 4 am, at a time when most people were asleep. As soon as the locals knew of the fire, they called the fire brigade for help. There were a lot of plastic materials that were gutted. The surrounding areas of the bazaar were engulfed in smokes. A woman and a boy, who lived close to the place where the fire had started, had been suffocated due to the smoke and were shifted to a nearby hospital.
No causalities were recorded. The estimate loss due to the fire amounts from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
