YS Jagan Greets Girijan Tribes On World Adivasi Day - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy greeted conveyed wishes to the Adivasi and Girijan tribes in the state , on account of Adivasi Day.

He promised to fulfill all the promises made during the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, before the elections. As part of the Tribal welfare, a Girijan Medical College would be established soon in Paderu in Visakhapatnam. Sources further said that the new government is planning to develop the tribal area in Visakhapatnam by developing two major centres-Chintapalli and Paderu. While a medical college is going to be set up in Paderu, there is a proposal for an engineering college in Chintapalli.

Tribal Welfare department secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena said that the Adivasi Day would be celebrated in a grand way on August 9 in Araku Valley.

Meena said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was keen on the welfare of tribals and the programme should be designed in such a way that it would reflect their culture and tradition. He said that the programmes should enlighten the tribals on the various government welfare schemes.

Adivasi Day is celebrated as part of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples which is observed on 9th of August every year to protect the rights of the world’s indigenous (tribal) population.
