Married Woman Commits Suicide Due To Sexual Harassment

Guntur: A married woman committed suicide on Tuesday night by hanging self in Madugula village. According to police, Ganipalli Annarao, a native of Madugula village married his sister's daughter Mariyakumari (24), 12 years ago. He is running a shop and working as agricultural labourer.

Ganipalli Dileeplevi of the same village, who is working as a record assistant in social welfare Gurukul, had been sexually harassing Mariyakumari through phone calls and by stalking her. Previously, he sent two mobile phones to her, which led to arguments and differences between Mariyakumari and her husband.

On Tuesday evening, Diliplevi again sent a mobile phone to her children. On seeing it, Annarao brought the issue to the notice of Mariyakumari mother and brother. Her brother Darivemula Sunil reprimanded her. Upset with this, Mariyakumari committed suicide by hanging herself at midnight.

The deceased is survived by four children, a mentally disabled child, Ashok, Pramila (10), Lathika (3) and Rushi (1). Police have sent the body to a government hospital for autopsy and filed a case against him. According to the police, a probe is underway.
