AP, Telangana Agree On Ration Card Portability
Kakinada: The interstate migration between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is widespread. Due to this, most of the working class and poor families which migrate outside State are being deprived of their ration provided under the public distribution system (PDS).
Reversing such a situation, the State government has taken up efforts to ensure that people from AP who moved to Telangana get their monthly ration on their PDS cards from the place where they relocated to as per the orders from Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The same applies to those from Telangana who migrated to AP for various reasons and eligible for ration from the PDS system.
This portability system will come into effect from August 1. Both the governments have inked an agreement to this effect already in fulfillment of Food Security Law, 2013. The Centre also gave a go-ahead to this end.
