Hyderabad: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tributes to former chief minister of united AP YS Rajashekhara Reddy on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary on Monday. Banerjee wrote her tribute message to YSR on Twitter and tagged Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Several political leaders and prominent faces across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana paid rich tributes to the departed leader. They recalled his slew of welfare schemes that left an indelible imprimatur on poor and downtrodden. Many of the YSR's fans also organised charity programmes on the occasion. YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh declared that YSR's birth anniversary henceforth would be observed as Farmers' Day in view of his pioneering efforts to uplift farmers out of debt burden and make agriculture a profitable venture.
