Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to make the implementation of Navaratnalu a matter of priority, and make efforts to pool in resources for the same.

In preparation for the budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, YS Jagan held deliberations with Finance Minister Bugguna Rajendranath Reddy and officials from the department on Saturday.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to make strenuous efforts to ensure that the State government received all expected funds from the Centre in time and also to explore options for increasing the government's revenue.

YS Jagan, however, specifically directed officials not to burden people with any additional taxes, but to minimise any unnecessary expenditure for the State government.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Budget sessions of the Assembly are likely to commence from July 10 onwards. In all likelihood, the Budget sessions would be held for 17 days.

The Budget sessions will be a pointer to indicate how the State government with a huge revenue deficit and ambitious welfarist agenda can manage to pool in more monetary resources with levying additional taxes on the people.
