YS Jagan Meets Amit Shah To Discuss SCS
Andhra Pradesh: The new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had a meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to talk to him about granting Special Category Status (SCS) to the State.
The AP CM, whose party had decimated Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP in the recently held elections, told the media after the meeting that the case of Andhra Pradesh's SCS will be taken with most importance and will be brought forward to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Niti Aayog meeting that is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
This meeting with the Home minister was called for by the AP CM to; “try and prevail on him and to also soften PM's heard on the special category status, what we will definitely be asking for in tomorrow's NITI Aayog meeting."
Today’s meeting comes five days after the PM Narendra Modi had met with the AP CM at the temple town of Tirupathi. The PM in a public address said that he would address all of the problems AP has been facing and cooperate with the state government in such a way that only the development of AP is in priority.
PM Modi's comment was linked by many to special status for Andhra, a long-standing demand that was promised by the Congress-led UPA government back in 2014, but has yet to be delivered by the current government.
