YS Jagan’s First Cabinet Meet: What’s On The Agenda?
Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will hold the first Cabinet meeting on Monday at 10.30 am in Secretariat. The main agenda of the meeting is set to focus on the issues of the farmers, women, and employment.
The discussions will be held on the measures to be taken for the Kharif season, increase in the wages of the ASHA workers (women) and the interim relief (IR) of 27 percent for the employees. Also, the Cabinet will make a decision to compensate the farmers who have lost their crops in the cyclones, Titli and Fani.
Similarly, discussions on how much assistance the state received from the Center will also be held. Apart from this, the Cabinet meeting will discuss issues related to the availability of seeds, availability of fertilizers, minimum support price for crops for the farmers in the wake of the start of the farm season.
The Chief Minister has already announced the increase of the salaries of ASHA workers from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 and even signed on the relevant file at the Secretariat on Saturday. With the increase in wages, 42,000 people in the state will benefit over Rs 504 crore annually. This will be approved by the Cabinet on Monday.
The decision on interim relief (IR) of 27 percent to the State government employees will also be approved by the Cabinet. Due to this, the Finance Ministry estimates that the government will have an additional burden of Rs 2,415 crore in the current fiscal.
Similarly, the Chief Minister also decided to discuss this particular issue in the first cabinet as per the assurance, given in the election plan to cancel the contributory pension scheme (CPS).
With YS Jagan announced that he would cancel the CPS ahead of the elections, the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu set up a committee led by former CS SP Takkar to study the feasibilities of the scheme. The committee report was also submitted to the government. The Cabinet meeting will discuss the recommendations made in the Takkar Committee report. The government has decided to cancel the CPS in any form for which the Cabinet will discuss the consent required to do so.
Further, allocation of homelands for employees, the increase of pensions up to Rs 2,250 and issues related to contract employees and outsourcing employees will also be up for discussion.
Similarly, the Chief Minister decided to discuss with the cabinet regarding the increase in the salaries of the home guards, as per the promise made in the elections. YS Jagan has announced that he will give Rs 1,000 more than the salaries in Telangana. There are 16,616 home guards in the state. Official sources said that the Chief Minister will announce the wage hike in the first Cabinet meeting itself.
Also, the merger of RTC in the government, increase in the salaries of the sanitation workers and Rs 12,500 to be paid to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme which is to begin from October will also be discussed.
