Kurnool Teenager Sets World Record Scaling 5 Mountain Peaks In 5 Continents

Suresh Kumar - Sakshi Post

Kurnool: While most of us will be busy completing our schooling in our teenage years, Gonegandla native Suresh Kumar has climbed seven mountains across the globe in just two years.

Just 18 years old, Kumar from Kurnool district is now gearing up for his eighth summit. He has also set a record for himself being the youngest person in the world to scale five mountain peaks in five continents, three of them above 8,000 feet — Mt Everest, Mt Manasulu and Mt Lhotse.

Kumar says that he aspires to achieve those that is impossible and is inspired by mountaineer Malli Mastan Babu who scaled seven summits in seven continents in just 173 days.

Recently, Suresh had climbed world's fourth highest peak Mount Lhotse. The mountain came on news when 12 died while during a 'traffic jam' in the mountain.

Silver Jubilee Government College Alumni Association has given him financial aid for his expeditions. SJGCA secretary Saida Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that he comes from a very humble background. But he is very strong mentally and has immense determination.

Talking about his obstacles, the teenage mountaineer says that it was not rough weather, avalanches or cyclones that worked as hurdle but his background and fund crunch that came between his expedition.
