Gautam Sawang Takes Charge As AP DGP
Amaravati: Senior IPS officer Gautam Sawang has taken charge as Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police on Saturday afternoon. Gautam Sawang received a guard of honor from the police at AP headquarters in Mangalagiri.
Replacing RK Thakur, Damodar Gautam Sawang has been given full additional charge as the new DGP (Head of Police Force). He will continue as the state Director General (Vigilance and Enforcement) as well.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that the state government has given him a huge responsibility. Expressing happiness over his appointment as the DGP for Andhra Pradesh, which is a prestigious department, he said that the AP Police department is one of the best in the country.
Gautam Sawang stated that the police department went through its share of highs and lows, post the state bifurcation but the department has overcome all the issues in the last five years adding that there are few more challenges to defeat, which they will see through.
Meanwhile, RP Thakur was transferred and posted as Commissioner of Printing and Stationary and Stores Purchase.
