Stephen Ravindra As AP Intelligence Chief ?
Amaravati: Senior IPS officer and Hyderabad Range Inspector General Stephen Ravindra left to Vijayawada on Monday to meet chief minister-designate YS Jagan Mohan Reddy amidst the buzz that he is likely to be made as next Intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh.
With the Model Code of Conduct ending on Sunday, the continuation of senior IPS officer Kumar Vishwajeet, who was appointed by the Election Commission of India during the polls, as the Intelligence chief is at the discretion of the new government under the leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
A 1999 batch IPS officer, Ravindra is also heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the government of Telangana to look into data theft scam that shook Andhra Pradesh and Telangana recently. He is credited with clamping down on factionism in Anantapur when he worked as the district SP during the tenure of the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The IPS officer also served as Warangal SP when Rajasekhara Reddy held talks with Maoists in 2004.
The other probables for the coveted post are Kumar Vishwajeet himself along with former Vijayawada commissioner Sitaramanjeyulu and former Police Housing Corporation MD Kasireddy Rajendarnath Reddy.
