Scolded Over Lack Of Cooking Skills, Girl Sets Herself Ablaze In Srikakulam
Srikakulam: A 14-year-old girl set herself ablaze after getting scolded by her mother over her lack of cooking skills. The incident took place on Sunday morning near Weight Bridge at Cheepurupalli Road of the district.
Going by the details, the victim, Patnana Anitha is a Class XI student of a local private school and resides in Kondaka Street of Rajam. On Sunday morning, the victim found herself on the receiving end of scolding from her mother when she mentioned not knowing how to cook. Her mother, who runs a petty shop in the market gave Rs 20 to purchase curry.
However, Anitha instead bought petrol from a filling station near Weight Bridge and set herself ablaze at an isolated place. No passerby noticed her for a long time due to the place being isolated but hearing her screams, eventually, locals rushed to her rescue. They doused the flames and rushed her to Rajam hospital on a tractor.
The doctors at the hospital administered her first-aid and then referred her to the Srikakulam General Hospital. The victim's condition is learned to be critical. Further details are awaited.
