Defamation Case Against Ramoji Rao And Son Revived

Anantapur: A petition was filed in a mobile court in Anantapur district against the Eenadu Chairman Ramoji Rao and his son Kiran on Friday. Retired ASP Venkateswara Rao filed this petition upon which the court directed Ramoji Rao and his son Kiran to personally come and file an affidavit or extend the stay period granted by the High Court. The case was adjourned for further hearing on June 6.

ASP Venkateswara Rao had earlier filed a defamation case in the High Court against Ramoji Rao and his son Kiran in 2012. The media baron obtained a stay seeking exemption from personal appearance. With the recent Supreme Court Judgment lifting stay petitions that were pending for long duration, the case had come up for hearing once again. Based on the Supreme Court decsion ASP Venkateswara Rao had sought the mobile court's intervention to revive the case.
