VVPATs Counting Could Delay Election Results: AP CEO

Amaravathi: AP Chief Election Officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi said the results of General Elections could be delayed due to counting of VVPATs.
Speaking to press persons here on Monday, he explained that authorities would randomize VVPATs in the presence of candidates and polling agents. In each Assembly constituency, five Assembly and five Lok Sabha VVPATs would be counted.
Overall, 1,750 VVPATs slips would be counted. There would be a possibility of having thousand slips in each VVPAT. On an average, it would take five hours to announce the result of a particular Assembly constituency. The results would be announced only after number of votes polled in EVM and VVPATs are matched and found accurate, he added.
