Maoist Who Killed TDP Leader K. Sarveswara Rao Arrested

Hyderabad: Seven months after the brutal murder of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao murder, Koraput police in Odisha on Saturday arrested one accused who is a member of Nandpur Area Committee of CPI Maoist. He has been handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The arrested Maoist has been identified as Jayaram Khilla of Tala Kandapalli village in Padwa panchayat of Dumrbiguda in Visakhapatnam district.

In September 2018, Maoists gunned down two political leaders, including sitting Telegu Desam Party (TDP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kidari Sarveswara Rao, were shot dead by Naxals in Dumbriguda Mandal of Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam district.

The other person who fell prey to the ultras was former TDP MLA Siveri Soma.

The Maoists attacked the MLA when he along with TDP leader and former MLA S. Soma was attending a programme in his constituency.

The accused has been booked under various sections of Arms act, Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
