Kadapa: C Harikiran, the District Collector and election officer had appealed to the voters to come to the polling stations with a valid Photo ID and their voting slip when they come to cast their votes.

He had addressed the media at a conference held at the collectorate on Monday afternoon, where he said that the district administration had done all it could till now to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections.

There are 22,02,964 voters in the district out of which there are 10,87,117 males and 11,17,547 are females and 300 in the third gender. The Kadapa parliament seat is in competition of 15 contestants and nine for Rajampeta parliament segment. There are over 133 contestants for a total of ten constituencies.

The total number of polling stations arranged stands at 2,723 to which three more have been added, he explained. For every polling station, there will be a PO and five staff deployed. A total of 6,500 EVMs and 6,900 VVPATS have been arranged. Total manpower engaged on election duty stood at 24,000 he added. Webcasting has been arranged in 230 polling stations and 2,300 crew members have been deployed for this purpose including 832 videographers appointed for the polling stations. All polling staff would be dispersed to their respected polling stations on Wednesday afternoon. "We have engaged 555 buses as well as 40 light vehicles for transport purposes," he said.

They have identified 760 polling stations as critical and many special security arrangements were made for the smooth flow of activities during the elections.

The Election Commission has made special transport arrangements for Physically handicapped persons. Autos will be engaged during the day for this purpose. An EVM in Braille has been arranged for the blind voters.
