Timpany School Hikes Fees, Parents Protest in Visakhapatnam

Timpany School - Sakshi Post

Schools are gearing up for yet another academic year and the blood pressure levels of parents have shot up, thanks to the school managements which keep hiking the fees. This year too seems to be no exception as a well known school in Visakhapatnam decided to hike the school fees by 25% for the next academic year. Parents were in for a shock on hearing the news. A large gathering of parents of student studying in the Timpany Senior secondary School raised their concerns at the premises of the school.

The school management is believed to have reportedly hiked the bi-monthly fee for Class I from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000. Besides, the students were compelled to buy branded shoes worth Rs 3,000-Rs 5,000, the parents alleged.

A parent told a leading English daily that the management stated clearly that parents should either look for alternate schools or cough up the fee. Even though the management is yet to take a decision on rollback of the hiked fee, Timpany School principal is believed to have assured the parents about not insisting them to buy expensive branded shoes.

As per the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the collection of huge amount of fee and demanding purchase of uniform from the school premises amounts to violation of child rights.
