Nellore Victim With Scissors In Stomach Post Surgery Gets Compensation
Amaravati: The Medical and Health Department of Andhra Pradesh, according to the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) orders, issues Rs 3,00,000 to the victim, in whose stomach a surgical pair of scissors was left behind post the surgery.
According to the details, P Chalapathy hailing from the Kothakaluva, Nellore district was admitted to the Government Hospital in Nellore. Surgeons who operated on him left behind a pair of scissors in the stomach of the patient.
Chalapathi was again admitted to the hospital reporting severe pain in the stomach. After the X-ray report was out, doctors learned that there was a pair of scissors left over in the stomach, and that was causing the pain. They operated on him and took it out.
Later P Chalapathy filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission demanding compensation for the negligence of the doctors at the government hospital. NHRC responded over the case and ordered the state government to pay Rs 3,00,000 as compensation to the patient.
Following the orders from NRHC on Friday, Medical and Health department Speical secretary Poonam Malakondaiah had issued orders to release the amount.
