Maha Padayatra Will Continue: Hindu JAC

Amaravati: The Hindu Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman Sivaswamy said the Maha Padayatra that will be taken up in protest against the anti-Hindu policies of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's government will continue despite all the hurdles by the government. The main objective of the padayatra is to highlight the anti-Hindu activities of the government.

Speaking to media here today, Sivaswamy said the Maha Padayatra would start on July 29 from Vijayawada Kanadurga temple and will culminate in Tirupati on August 12. He said the government was not allowing them to go ahead with padayatra and was creating several hurdles to stop it.

The Hindu JAC chairman alleged that he was being harassed by the government over the last four years for questioning the government over its anti-Hindu activities. The TDP leaders were accusing him of grabbing assigned lands, he told the press. He clarified that come what may, he would start his padayatra tomorrow morning. Sivaswamy said along with him, 30 other persons would be participating in the padayatra.

Meanwhile, Sivaswamy was booked under SC, ST Atrocities Act by the police here today. It is reported that few of Sivaswamy's disciples had abused people in the name of caste. Police received a complaint on the issue and immediately a case was booked. The Hindu JAC chairman has been served notices to be present at DSP office on Sunday.

Sivaswamy alleged that this was also part of the conspiracy of the government to stop his padayatra. He questioned how could he attack the owners of assigned lands when he was not at Shiva Kshetram. The government was harassing him with the help of few farmers. He clarified that no matter the circumstances the padayatra will start from tomorrow evening. He was not afraid of threats from the government, he added.
