AP Bandh: Roja, Ambati Rambabu Arrested
The Andhra Pradesh bandh call given by YSR congress party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Leader of Opposition of AP Lesgislative Assembly to protest the Centre's decision not to grant Special Category Status to the state received an overwhelming response from various parties across the state.
The YSRCP is raising its voice against the unfulfilled promises of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre with respect to AP special.
YS Jagan had asked for shutdown of AP for a day after the defeat of TDP's no-confidence motion against the BJP in Lok Sabha failed miserably. Speaking to the media, the YSRCP chief said that the centre will be forced to grant special status for AP if all the MPs of the state takes part in the bandh.
Meanwhile, the bandh has been successful so far in all the districts of the state where all the educational institutions, petrol bunks and shops remained shut since morning.
To foil the bandh, the ruling party has directed the arrest of the opposition party leaders for taking part in protest. Nagari MLA Roja was arrested in Puttur by the police along with YSRCP official representative Ambati Rambabu who was arrested in Sattenapalli of Guntur. He was later taken to Rajulapalem police station.
