We Are No 1 In Crimes Against Women: Chandrababu

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the growing number of crimes against women in the state and was surprised that AP stood at the top of the list globally. Speaking at a function of AP Home Guards in Vijayawada, the CM said that despite the country having got Independence 70 years ago, women were not safe in the country.

Chandrababu remarked at the meeting that the government has formed a committee to stop atrocities against women and warned that any person who sexually assaults women will have to face dire consequences. He instructed the police to act against women atrocities' cases more stringently. He called upon strengthening community policing. Chandrababu also asked all police stations to come out with crime bulletins every month.

The AP CM promised to build houses for home guards at a place of their choice. He assured them that he would fulfill all the promises made to them earlier. "We have initiated Dharma Poratam against the Centre and will not keep quiet until justice is done to the state," he said. The state government would establish Kadapa steel plant if the Central government provides incentives over the taxes paid, he added.
