Guntur West MLA Meets CM YS Jagan, Criticises Chandrababu
GUNTUR: The opposition Telugu Desam Party MLA from Guntur West Assembly segment Maddali Giri, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the camp office and discussed a host of issues, including developmental works in his constituency on Monday.
This meeting led to speculations about Giri joining the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) , not because of his meeting, but his comments on the TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting with the Chief Minister, the first-time MLA lavished praise on the Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s policies saying the latter was leading the state in an exemplary manner. The state will become an industrial hub under YS Jagan. He is sincerely trying to improve infrastructure in schools and hospitals, Giri said. He criticised TDP president Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly failing the farmers. Chandrababu should owe an explanation on his betrayal of the farmers, he added.
Giri said that there introduction of English medium in schools was widely accepted among the public, but the opposition leader Chandrababu was maintaining a dual stance in this regard. He said that he met CM YS Jagan for the sake of resolving his constituency issues. Maddali Giri also said that the Chief Minister had agreed to his request and instructed authorities to release Rs 25 Crore of funds on the spot. He said that the Government was effectively implementing welfare schemes despite financial difficulties. The meeting was attended by YSRCP Guntur District Parliament President L Appireddi and others.
Giri would not immediately join the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to avoid disqualification but is seeking a safe way out like another TDP legislator Vallabhaneni Vamsi who got recognised as an 'unattached' member in the Assembly.
