Setback To TDP, Senior Leader Adi Narayana Reddy Joins BJP
New Delhi: In another set back to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) a senior leader, Chadipirala Adi Narayana Reddy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of the party's working president JP Nadda and national general secretary Arun Singh on Monday in the National capital.
A three-time MLA and former Minister in the previous Chandrababu Naidu government Adi Narayana was once a close aide of Chandrababu Naidu. He had resigned from the primary membership of the TDP on September 12 amidst various speculations. With the dismal failure of the TDP in the recent elections, he is said to have taken this decision to join the BJP and revive his sagging political career. Putting rumours to rest the BJP General Secretary Sunil Devghar, managed to convince Narayana Reddy to join the saffron party.
Political analysts say since he cannot join the YSRCP, the BJP will now seek his support to improve its position in the Rayalaseema region. Once a close follower of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy when he was in power, he was elected from Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency in the years 2004 and 2009 .In 2014 he joined the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy but later joined the TDP. However, he lost the Kadapa Parliamentary seat in the recent elections where the YSRCP leader YS Avinash Reddy defeated him by a huge margin of 380976 votes. His anti-Jagan comments and the surge of YSRCP wave in Rayalaseema were said to be the cause for his defeat.
