YSR Kadapa District: A new legislation will be enacted soon by the YSRCP government to increase the quota of reservations for SC, ST, BC and minorities up to 50 percent in educational and employment opportunities, Chief Whip Gadikota Srikanth Reddy has said.

Speaking to press persons here on Sunday, he said YSRCP government was bringing in several legislations to help uplift the poor and downtrodden sections in the society. Accordingly, a new law would be made to stop private education institutions from fleecing parents and take quality educational opportunities closer to everyone, he added.

"So far, we have already tabled 20 bills in these Assembly sessions that are aimed at benefitting the poor and needy. To provide tap water to every household in the State, we are currently carrying out the reverse tendering process in order to make the system effective. As many as 25 lakh houses will be built for the eligible families by Ugadi," he informed.

In the same breath, Srikant Reddy launched a scathing attack on the TDP. In the last five years, the TDP had watered down all institutions and the YSRCP was making all out efforts to cleanse and streamline them, he added.

Stating that the TDP had left behind a huge debt burden on the exchequer, he said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had taken up the mantle of cleansing Revenue, Police, Welfare and various other departments from the grass-root level.
