Kodela Siva Prasad Rao - Sakshi Post

Patnam Bazar, Guntur: Complaints of 'K' tax, or extortion continue to pour in against Kodela Sivaram, son of former Speaker and senior TDP leader, Kodela Siva Prasada Rao. On Tuesday, yet another victim of Sivaram's extortion came forward to lodge a complaint against the former Speaker's son. Earlier, another victim had staged a protest in Guntur in front of a showroom owned by Sivaram, seeking refund of Rs. 11 lakhs, which was allegedly extorted from him by the TDP leader's son and threatened to commit suicide if Sivaram failed to return the amount. According to reports, the victim said that each time he saw Sivaram, he thought he was dealing with an Andhra Nayeem (the notorious gangster).

A contractor who also ran a catering business, Yellinedi Srinivasa Rao of Sattenapalli, took up a catering contract worth Rs.24 lakhs for the Khelo India Kabaddi competitions held in Narasaraopet in 2017. This related to supplying food to 2,000 people. Kodela Sivaram reportedly paid him Rs. 5 lakhs initially and assured him of paying the rest after the competitions got over.

Once the competitions got over Sivaram allegedly asked him to collect the cheque for Rs. 10 lakhs after coughing up Rs. 5 lakhs. A helpless Srinivasa Rao is reported to have paid up. Subsequently, he reportedly forced him to pay Rs. 3 lakhs for a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 2 lakhs for another cheque of Rs. 4 lakhs.

Srinivasa Rao told his friends and well-wishers about the injustice and harassment he had been subjected to at the hands of Kodela Sivaram. The matter did not end there. Kodela Sivaram who is said to have learnt of this reportedly questioned Srinivasa Rao about what he had been telling others and levied a 'penalty' of Rs. 1 lakh.

The victim, Srinivasa Rao, lodged a complaint with the Urban SP here. Kodela Sivaram and his followers are reported to have pleaded with him against lodging a police complaint and promised to return the money by July 1. When he tried to call them he found their phones switched off, following which he met the police officials here to reveal details of the case.
