Requisition Made For Installation Of Alluri Sitarama Raju Statue In Parliament
New Delhi: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Narsapuram MP Raghurama Krishnamraju, filed a petition on Thursday requesting that the statute of Andhra freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju be installed in the Parliament. He submitted a requisition to the Speaker Om Birla and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi to this effect.
Since the Committee on Installation of Portraits/Statues of National leaders and Parliamentarians had earlier approved the request, he appealed that action be taken up at the earliest for the installation.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, he said that with the approval, the long-awaited desire of the Telugu people along with the people of Chhattisgarh and Odisha Agency areas would be fulfilled soon.
The YSRCP MP also informed that on July 4th, which happens to be Alluri Sitarama Raju Jayanthi , he had requested the Speaker for special time during Zero Hour, to speak exclusively about the freedom fighter in the Parliament. The MP was happy to inform that the Speaker had responded positively.
Raghurama Krishnamraju said that all efforts were being made to have the statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju be installed by the 73rd Independence Day.
