Demolition of Illegal Praja Vedika Fully Justified: Mangalagiri MLA
Undavalli: Mangalagiri YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy slammed former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for indulging in several illegal activities with impunity. Citing the instance of Praja Vedika which was being demolished, RK as he is popularly known, pointed out to the media on Wednesday that the land in question originally belonged to two local farmers, Nagayya and Sambasiva Rao.
It was forcibly acquired from them under land pooling and the entire process was overseen by the then Minister P Narayana and former CRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sridhar.
The hapless farmers were threatened with cases and were harassed till they parted with their land and are yet to compensated, RK said.

Pointing to the debris of the structure whose demolition was underway, the Mangalagiri MLA said that while it was a temporary structure, its costs were hiked from Rs 5 Crore to Rs 8.9 Crore, reflecting the scale of kickbacks in the entire matter.
The brazen illegality of the structure becomes even more clear when seen in the context of the many violations indulged in by the TDP government while building it, including the River Conservation Act. RK further said that the CRDA officials among others, flagged the illegal nature of the construction, but the TDP government with characteristic brazenness overrode their objections.
In contrast, AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sent a clear message to the public representatives, officials and the people of the state at large, that all are equal in the eyes of the law. Further, the Mangalagiri MLA criticised Chandrababu Naidu and his other cronies who built similar illegal structures along the banks of River Krishna and pointed out that they were polluting the holy river by letting out waste from their houses into the river water, while pilgrims bathed downstream.
He also suggested that it would be better if the TDP supremo vacated his house ,which is also an illegal structure situated right next to Praja Vedika, after its demolition. Incidentally Chandrababu's return to the state coincided with the demolition of Praja Vedika.
