YS Jagan Orders Ban On Bauxite Mining In Agency Areas

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: In a sensational move, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy declared that there would be no bauxite mining in the agency areas henceforth. As a result, the government order issued during TDP regime allowing the same will be annulled.

During the second day of the Collectors' conference, YS Jagan said the State government had nothing to lose by mining when tribals in the agency areas were expressing their reluctance over the same. "There will be no mining in agency areas from now on," he proclaimed. He also asked the officials about the ongoing illegal mining and what is being done so far about them.

YS Jagan had promised several times during his Padayatra in agency areas that bauxite mining would be called off if YSRCP came to power. In line with his promise, he has taken a decision to this effect just in a month.

In order to get the first-hand account of the issues afflicting the tribals, he ordered officials to visit the agency areas once in a month. Officials of the various departments should go together in view of security issues and elicit the views of tribals if government services are reaching them, he added.
