Chandrababu Sending Corrupt TDP MPs To BJP To Evade Arrests

TDP MPs Sujana Chowdary, CM Ramesh, Garikapati Rammohan Rao and TG Venkatesh have decided to crossover to BJP on Thursday - Sakshi Post

New Delhi/Kakinada: Losing all its political currency in the State and with chances of rebounding appear nowhere closer, TDP's clumsy attempts at revival would certainly leave any political observer bewildered.

At a time when TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is vactioning in Europe, four TDP Rajya Sabha MPs have decided to crossover to BJP. Sujana Chowdary, Garikapati Rammohan Rao, CM Ramesh and TG Venkatesh after their talks with BJP leaders Amit Shah and Narendra Modi have decided to jump on the BJP bandwagon. To this effect, they will meet Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday evening urging him to recognise them as a special group with no affiliation to TDP. This leaves TDP with only two MPs in Rajya Sabha and three in Lok Sabha.

On the surface this appears like disenchanted and disillusioned MPs switching their allegiance to another party in search of greener pastures, but that's not all. It emerges that TDP top leadership is willing sending them away in order to evade arrests and legal procedures against its party leaders. Note that these MPs in particular have corporate interests and legal cases against them. The Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate and other central government institutions have been after them after TDP and BJP broke ranks. In such a scenario, TDP feels it is more beneficial for the party to let them take 'refuge' in the BJP in the coming years until next general elections draw close. Once the election season is on, perhaps, a year before the next elections TDP wants to re-induct them into the party.

Meanwhile, around 20 former TDP MLAs belonging to Kapu community held deliberations in Kakinada under the leadership of senior leader Totha Trimurthulu to chart out their future course. Although they have not come out with any announcement, it appears that the leaders see no future for them politically if they continue to stay put in TDP.
