Taneti Vanitha took oath as the Minister on Saturday in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Cabinet.

She represents Kovvur constituency of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, which is a SC (reserved) constituency. A native of Gopalapuram, Taneti Vanitha is the daughter of former MLA Babaji Rao from the Telugu Desam Party.

In 2009 elections, she won on TDP ticket but later in 2012, she defected to YSR Congress party.

In the 2019 elections, Taneti Vanitha of the YSRCP beat her nearest rival Vangalapudi Anitha of the TDP by over 23,000 votes in the Kovvur SC (reserved) constituency.

Among the 25 new ministers, who were inducted into the YS Jagan’s Council of Ministers in Andhra Pradesh, Taneti Vanitha will be serving as the Women and Child Welfare Minister.
