YSR Akshaya Patra Name For AP Mid-Day Meal Scheme 

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has christened the Mid-day meal scheme as YSR Akshaya Patra - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, within two-days of taking charge as the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has begun initiating the changes in regard to the names of the welfare schemes christened after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, including party founder NT Rama Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, who is the current president.

The schemes will be renamed after YS Jagan's late father and former Chief Minister of United AP, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, popularly known as YSR.

At his swearing-in ceremony, YS Jagan announced the pension scheme will now be known as 'YSR Pension Kanuka' (YSR pension gift) instead of 'NTR Bharosa' (NTR support). Apart from this, the AP CM also hiked the monthly pension of elderly people from Rs 1000 to Rs 2250 and promised to increase the pension by Rs 250 year on year.

After reviewing the implementation of the Mid-day meal scheme in schools, he directed the scheme to be christened as YSR Akshaya Patra, further increasing the allowance given to midday meal workers from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000. Earlier, the scheme had no particular name attached to it.

The subsidized lunch scheme launched by the previous government in several districts, Anna NTR Canteen, named after NT Rama Rao will also be renamed. The Anna NTR Canteen at Narsaraopet in Guntur district on Friday was renamed 'Rajanna Canteen' after YSR who was also called Rajanna.

Even though the official directives have not been issued by the government for the name change, the YSR Congress party workers chose to rename the canteen.
