The government, also issued G.O. No. 1172 relieving the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation Limited, Anil Chandra Punetha from his duties as he attains superannuation on May 31.

It may be recollected that Punetha shunted out during the general elections in AP for allegedly defying its order to transfer three top police officials. The poll panel had appointed LV Subramanyam, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1983 batch, as the new Chief Secretary who continued in his post. The EC directed that Punetha, who is due to retire next month, should not be given any election-related posting.
