YS Jagan, Pragmatic Leader With A Vision

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy - Sakshi Post

In his interaction with the media in New Delhi on Sunday, the chief minister designate of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that had the NDA coalition at the Centre won around 250 Lok Sabha seats, the YSRCP could have leveraged its strength to achieve Special Category Status to AP. He pointed out that since the NDA had a brute majority of over 350 seats, it no longer needed the support of other parties.

In such circumstances, the new YSR Congress Party government would exert as much pressure as it can to secure SCS to the state, as also other demands which are rightfully due to AP. The chief minister elect remarked that they had hoped that the NDA formation would get around 250 seats so that they would need the support of other parties, but that was not to be.

YS Jagan spoke to the media after he had an hour long meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital. The note of pragmatism which YS Jagan struck in his interaction clearly shows that he is realistic about the path to undertake in the coming months and years.

He emphasised upon building cordial ties with the Centre to ensure that the state prospers to the most. YS Jagan also commented that friendly relations with the neighbouring state of Telangana were important for the state to move forward. The YSRCP chief enjoys a very cordial relationship with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, as was evident in their interaction on Saturday.

The chief minister designate observed that the state was reeling under the burden of huge borrowings made indiscriminately and irresponsibly by the TDP government. Course correction would be high on the priorities of the YSRCP government. He also promised to release white papers on all important subjects including the state of the economy of Andhra Pradesh.

YS Jagan has promised an exemplary government, free of corruption, which people would look up to in the first six months to one year itself. This clearly shows that he is determined to work at a fast pace to turn the fortunes of the state around.
