Lagadapati Rajagopal’s Surveys Only To Encourage Betting?

Lagadapati Rajagopal - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: Former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal known for his infamous poll predictions and surveys has come out with another set of predictions about the Andhra Pradesh elections results. Speaking to the press and media on Saturday the two-time Congress MP hinted at Telugu Desam Party (TDP) getting a clear majority in Andhra Pradesh. He said that, "while people of Telangana preferred a car ride because of a surplus budget, people of Andhra Pradesh who are suffering with a deficit budget do not have any option other than cycle.” However, he again gave a disclaimer that he might go wrong especially after his predictions about the Telangana Elections failed miserably. He also predicted that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan would enter the assembly this time.

Lagadapati Rajagopal said that he would announce a detailed survey results on Sunday evening after the completion of final phase of elections. It is reported that Lagadapati has spent more that Rs 1,24.08 Crore for these surveys and poll predictions made so far, which was said to be funded by N Chandrababu Naidu , with whom he is very close to.

Political analysts feel that the timing of his predictions was intentionally made to influence the 6000-plus voters in the Chandragiri assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. The Election Commission had ordered repolling in two more polling stations recently, taking the count to seven polling stations there. Re-polling is underway at Kammapalli, N R Kammapalle, Pulivarthipalli, Kotha Kandriga, Venkatramapuram, Kuppambaduru and Kaluru villages from 7 am to 6 pm on Sunday.

Political analysts say that using the word 'Cycle' was a clever ploy by him to try to influence the voters to cast their vote for the TDP in a last minute bid to garner the remaining votes to be polled in Chandragiri on Sunday.

With several surveys and TV Channels predicting the YSR Congress Party's victory in Andhra Pradesh, political observers are of the opinion is that Lagadapati's predictions were meant to encourage betting among the TDP followers. It is said that the Exit Polls results that will be announced at 6 pm on Sunday would predict the same.

Several leaders were upset with his predictions during the Telangana elections where many people lost money believing his survey, which predicted that the Grand Alliance (TDP and Congress) would win the elections there. Whereas it was rumoured that he made sure that his aides put their money on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party, which won the elections in December 2018 with a thumping majority.
