Balayya’s Misbehaviour Could Cost TDP Hindupur Seat

Nandamuri Balakrishna And Nara Lokesh - Sakshi Post

TDP circles seem uncertain about Balakrishna’s victory from the Hindupur assembly constituency. TDP founder NT Rama Rao had represented this constituency on three occasions and in the 1996 elections, his son Nandamuri Harikrishna won the Hindupur seat.

Up until the 2014 elections, Hindupur remained a bastion of the TDP. Balakrishna won and retained the Hindupur seat in 2014. He is trying his luck this time around. He is up against YSR Congress party's candidate, Mohammad Iqbal, a retired IG of police.

Powerful winds of anti-incumbency are sweeping through the Ananthapuram district and Hindupur constituency. Reeling from a serious water crisis, residents complain that Balakrishna has not fulfilled a single promise he made in 2014.

Water problems make day-to-day life miserable for Hindupur residents, while Balakrishna who had promised to camp at Hindupur and work for the constituency is seldom seen here. Locals complain that he is more of a guest or visitor here.

Balakrishna’s aggressive behaviour at times with TDP supporters as also with his fans has not gone down well with the people at large. On the other hand, the YSRCP candidate Mohammed Iqbal has endeared himself to the people and is confident of victory.
