AP Chief Secretary To Hold Video Conference With Collectors, SPs
Vijayawada: With the day of counting barely a month away, Andhra Pradesh chief Secretary LV Subramanyam is set to hold a video conference with District Collectors and SPs from the state Secretariat on Tuesday.
Others scheduled to be present at the conference include DGP RP Thakur, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer, Gopalakrishna Dwivedi, Additional DG, Law and Order, Ravishankar Ayyanar, among others.
It must be pointed out that political parties had raised serious concerns on the safety of EVMs in strong rooms across AP. Leaders of several parties including Kanna Lakshminarayana of BJP have appealed to the Election Commission for strengthening the security around the strong rooms across the state.
YSRCP leaders have repeatedly flagged the issue of security of EVMs. Moreover, the clamour being made by the TDP led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu himself on EVMs claiming falsely that 30% of the machines had malfunctioned on April 11, is giving rise to doubts about the TDP's likely course of action.
The TDP supremo has been harping on the EVMs preparing the ground for his likely defeat, observers say. In the light of all these developments, the chief secretary's video conference with Collectors and SPs gains added significance.
