EC Should Act Against Chandrababu For Breach Of Election Code: YSRCP

Dadi Veerbhadra Rao - Sakshi Post

Visakhapatnam: Senior YSR Congress Party leader Dadi Veerbhadra Rao urged the Election Commission to act against chief minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, as also officials who violated the Model Code of Conduct which is in force till May 23. Addressing the media at the party office here on Friday, he said that the code of conduct was an important part of the election process. The senior YSRCP leader said that the Constitution is a document which has spelt out duties of President and Governors. The prime minister or a chief minister serves at the pleasure of the President or Governor, as the case may be. Can Chandrababu spell out what duties the Constitution has conferred on him?, he questioned. Stubbornly defying the Election Commission and acting as per his whims and fancies, conducting reviews and acting like a full-fledged chief minister amounted to violation of code of conduct. Once the Model Code comes into force a chief minister remains one only in name, Dadi Veerbhadra Rao pointed out. The Constitution does not allow him to work as a full-time chief minister, he observed.

The Election Commission has to enforce the code of conduct and the Supreme Court has made this clear to the ECI recently, he added.

Dadi Veerabhadra Rao cited the example of tranfer of MD of Kapu Corporation, Sivasanker, as yet another instance of breach of code of conduct on the part of Chandrababu and sought immediate action from the Election Commission in this matter. He added that the TDP supremo would follow this up with other transfers if action was not taken.

Chandrababu conducted the Polavaram review and also held a press meet. Moreover, he reviewed the functioning of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) with regard to construction in capital city, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao observed. The YSRCP raised objections and complained to the Election Commission which took notice of these reviews, he said.

The scheduled Home department review did not take place because none of the officials including the Home Secretary and DGP attended the review citing Election Code and he had to cancel his review, the senior YSRCP pointed out. He added that the chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh LV Subramanyam did not attend any review in view of the election code.

Chandrababu is conducting reviews and trying to show that he is very much in control and in power in an attempt to influence 3 lakh postal ballot voters who are state government employees, the YSRCP leader said. Chandrababu was also making a show of his authority planning to influence officers entrusted with counting work, the YSRCP leader said.

Dadi Veerabhadra Rao wondered why the chief minister is silent on the seizure of 1381 kg of gold in Chennai belonging to TTD. He pointed out that temple property is being shifted without order or documents at a time when the election code is in force.

Dadi Veerbhadra Rao said that the director of IT Grids, the company at the heart of massive data theft, Ashok Dakavaram is being sheltered by the TDP government instead of being arrested for his involvement. Is this not part of law and order?, the YSRCP leader questioned.

The senior YSRCP leader remarked that the Finance department is being pressurised to pay bills of a Israel-based company to the extent of Rs. 12.50 crores.

Abusing CEC and PM Modi is wrong and will not help Chandrababu in any way, the YSRCP leader remarked. The TDP supremo seems to forget that government machinery is a permanent thing, while elected representatives change, Dadi Veerbhadra Rao said.
